RCMP Uncovers Domestic Terror Plot with Military Links | The Walrus
Briefly

An emergency response team arrested four individuals linked to a Canadian Armed Forces-connected terrorist cell on July 8. Two were serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Their motives stem from accelerationist ideology, where violent actions are seen as a means to overthrow the government. This group exhibits characteristics of US right-wing militia, including anti-authority views and military-style training. Planning included land seizure in Quebec City, revealing an alarming trend in domestic threats, long evading Canadian security oversight.
This Canadian cell shows all the hallmarks of being inspired by US-style right-wing militia groups, with their embrace of accelerationism, their radical anti-authority pose, and their desire to build followers by offering self-contained base camps, access to weaponry, and military-style training.
The motivation was no doubt different, but the Canadian cell just uncovered also stayed under the radar of Canadian security for too long.
