"It is vital that as we are rethinking our economy, and becoming more self-reliant, we integrate climate right there from the beginning,"
"Bringing Toronto Climate Week to life now is an opportunity for us to first of all acknowledge all the work that we have been doing, and are doing, in terms of innovation and specifically in climate and clean tech,"
"But also to answer the question, or start talking about, how do we recognize ourselves, and become globally recognized, as a climate hub."
Toronto Climate Week launches in Toronto to showcase Canada's clean tech and climate innovation sectors following Climate Week NYC. The event expanded from a planned single day to three days with over 100 events, including collaborations with the City of Toronto, the University of Toronto and MaRS Discovery District. Organizers plan a full week of programming next June. Founder Becky Park-Romanovsky aims to distinguish Canada as a welcoming climate hub amid U.S. governmental resistance to climate action. The week aims to build relationships, generate startup deals and secure public-private pilots while integrating climate into economic planning.
