Ford Motor Company is considering price increases on new vehicles if President Trump's auto tariffs persist, as indicated in a memo sent to dealers. The automaker has initiated significant discounts on its vehicles until June 2, but warns that pricing may adjust for models produced in May and beyond. While these tariffs may temporarily boost sales, Ford has cautioned lawmakers that sustained tariff policies could compel them to raise prices significantly. Despite these concerns, Ford will not raise prices on vehicles already in dealer inventory.
In the absence of material changes to the tariff policy as articulated to date, we anticipate the need to make vehicle pricing adjustments in the future, which is expected to happen with May production.
Customers will have a lot of choices, and we have plenty of inventory to choose from through June 2. The tariff situation is dynamic and we continue to evaluate the potential impact of tariff actions.
