Power Play: First Drive of the Aston Martin DBX S
"When Aston Martin first rolled out the DBX in 2020, it was a little late to the SUV party. Bentley's Bentayga was turning four, Porsche's Cayenne was already celebrating its eighteenth and old grandfather Range Rover had ticked passed half a century in production. Even unlikely candidates Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini had been at the SUV table for the best part of three years. There didn't appear to be much space for another luxurious, performance-focused SUV."
"Dialing the DBX up considerably, the 707 model was born - a snorting, 687 bhp DBX that genuinely drove like a super GT half its size and weight. When it was launched in 2022, it took the title as the most powerful SUV on the market and replaced the comparatively pedestrian DBX that went before it. Aston Martin introduced the DBX in 2020 as a luxurious, performance-focused SUV with a Mercedes-AMG–derived 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, a sumptuous interior, and classic Aston styling. The DBX became the brand's best-seller. Aston increased output in 2022 with the DBX 707, producing 687 bhp and delivering super GT–like performance. The new DBX S raises power to 717 bhp via revised turbocharging. New 23-inch magnesium wheels cut roughly 44 lb, reducing unsprung mass. The DBX S is the most powerful and most refined DBX to date, emphasizing higher performance and optimisation.
