Rivian has commenced production of its R2 SUV, with CEO RJ Scaringe driving the first unit off the production line. The initial deliveries will be for the Launch Package, priced at $57,990, while the base model starting at $45,000 will not be available until late 2027. Customers will not be able to configure their orders until June. The R2 is designed to compete with Tesla's Model Y, offering a range of at least 300 miles per charge and fast charging capabilities.
