Twisted Automotive Reimagines the Baja Bug with the Bespoke TBug Special Project | stupidDOPE | Est. 2008
Briefly

Twisted Automotive is redefining off-road vehicles with its TBug, a modern reinterpretation of the classic Baja Bug. Inspired by nostalgia, the TBug isn't just a restoration; it's an innovative reinvention that combines performance with craftsmanship. Constructed from a 1960s to 1980s air-cooled Volkswagen Beetle, the TBug features significant engineering upgrades including reinforced chassis and long-travel suspension. While the power output is conservatively capped under 80 horsepower, the design emphasizes an authentic driving experience, marrying vintage aesthetics with modern engineering for today's enthusiasts.
"We wanted to capture the honest simplicity of the original Baja Bugs," said Rob, Twisted's lead engineer. "But we also aimed to elevate the driving experience for today's enthusiast."
The TBug starts its life as a 1960s to 1980s air-cooled Volkswagen Beetle... but rather than simply polishing up a classic, Twisted tears the car down to its foundation.
