Uber is conducting employee test rides of a premium robotaxi service in San Francisco using Lucid Gravity SUVs with Nuro's autonomous driving system. A human safety operator is present during these rides. Uber has committed to purchasing at least 20,000 of these vehicles over the next six years. The partnership, which includes a $300 million investment in Lucid and a multi-hundred-million dollar investment in Nuro, aims to evaluate the vehicle's autonomy stack and rider experience in real-world conditions.
