"Not annoyed, probably more frustrated, because I was certainly part of that Under21s group that went over. So even if I didn't take the team Calum took the team, did really well, got a result out of the game. I feel like I should have been part of that."
"Now listen, people have got to make decisions. I love it when people make decisions and they go 'yes' or 'no'. Clearly the ownership, or whoever made those decisions - the sporting directors - have gone 'no' not to include me, for whatever reason. I don't know why."
John Terry, former Chelsea captain, expressed frustration at not being considered for a caretaker manager position following Enzo Maresca's departure in January. Terry works part-time as a mentor in Chelsea's academy and was part of the Under21s group involved in the transition. Instead, fulltime Under21s coach Calum McFarlane was appointed as interim boss for matches against Manchester City and Fulham. Terry holds a Uefa Pro Licence and Fifa leadership diploma, with previous assistant coaching experience at Aston Villa and Leicester City under Dean Smith. McFarlane, who holds only a Uefa B Licence, was deemed more appropriate due to his regular involvement with Maresca's Under21s team. Liam Rosenior later became permanent head coach after joining from Strasbourg.
