After a president-filled celebration, Rev. Jesse Jackson's family gathers for a private homegoing

Following a televised celebration attended by former presidents and governors, Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr.'s family and close associates held a private memorial service at Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters on Chicago's South Side. The intimate gathering included a few hundred attendees, primarily family members, allies, and confidants, serving as the final service in a week-long series of commemorations across the country. Jackson's legacy was honored through multiple public visitations, including at Rainbow PUSH headquarters and the South Carolina Capitol, where he grew up and began his civil rights activism as a high school student. Services in Washington, D.C., were postponed after a request to have Jackson lie in honor at the U.S. Capitol was denied by House Republican leadership.
