Margalus had initially reported that Clevinger was another name in consideration as one of their September call-ups, and perhaps could've join Ellard and Ramos if a third name had gone down/DFA'd to create a third roster spot. Clearly, some wires got crossed along the way."

Ellard started in place of right-hander Aaron Civale, who has joined the Chicago Cubs. Ramos will receive looks at third base and must capitalize on opportunities to compete for a roster spot next season, especially with Miguel Vargas likely to miss the rest of this season but expected in 2026. Reports that Mike Clevinger would be promoted were retracted; Clevinger struggled in the regular season after a solid spring.
