The Cubs lost to the rival White Sox in extra innings after a late comeback. Chicago scored early with a two-run homer by Michael Busch and a wild pitch in the first inning, then added runs through Edgar Quero’s RBI single and an Alex Bregman infield single. The Sox answered with RBI hits from Andrew Benintendi and Miguel Vargas to tie the game. Tristan Peters hit a three-run homer in the eighth to give Chicago’s opponent a lead, but Michael Conforto tied it with a three-run homer after an error. In the 10th, the Cubs managed only one run despite bases-loaded chances, and Quero hit a two-run homer to end the game 9-8.
