Happy Anniversary, Brent Seabrook - Bleacher Nation
Brent Seabrook scored one of the most legendary goals in Chicago Blackhawks history during Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinal against the Detroit Red Wings. The series was among the toughest of the Blackhawks’ dynasty run. A week earlier, Seabrook spoke with frustrated captain Jonathan Toews in the penalty box during Game 4, and that conversation proved pivotal. In the Game 7 matchup, a potential game-winner by Niklas Hjalmarsson had been removed earlier, but Seabrook ultimately ended the game, the series, and Detroit’s season. Detroit moved out of the Western Conference after the 2012-13 season, making this the last meeting between Chicago and Detroit before any possible Stanley Cup Final matchups.
"It was Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinal against the Detroit Red Wings. That was one of the toughest series the Blackhawks played during their dynasty run. One week prior to this goal, during Game 4 of the series, Seabrook skated over to the penalty box to give a frustrated captain Jonathan Toews a talking to. That conversation proved to be a pivotal moment for Toews and the Blackhawks."
"You might remember a would-be game-winner from Niklas Hjalmarsson was taken off the board previously in the game. But puck don't lie, and Seabrook ended the game, the series, Detroit's season and sent the Red Wings to the Eastern Conference with a playoff defeat. Detroit moved out of the Western Conference following the 2012-13 season."
"This would be the last time Chicago and Detroit would play before any potential Stanley Cup Final matchups. I was there, in my season ticket seats (Sect. 302, row 2). And I can confidently say this moment is on the Mount Rushmore of loudest the United Center has ever been during a hockey game. To me, the only time it was ever louder was when Marian Hossa scored his dramatic overtime game-winner against Nashville in 2010."
