"Ahead of a Los Angeles Lakers road tilt against the New York Knicks on NBC/Peacock Sunday, Maria Taylor, Vince Carter, Carmelo Anthony, and Tracy McGrady announced the NBA's 14 All-Star reserve picks exactly two weeks ahead of the 2026 All-Star Game. The All-Star Game is slated to tip off at the LA Clippers' home arena, Intuit Dome, on Feb. 15. Unfortunately, 23-year-old Chicago Bulls point guard Josh Giddey was omitted from the bunch."
"NBA commissioner Adam Silver will pick any All-Star injury replacements. He usually leans on the players who received the next-most votes from fans, media and journalists but were still shut out. Giddey finished outside the top 20 in fan votes, though, so... it feels unlikely he'll make the grade. The Aussie is himself currently grappling with a health issue, as he's missed most of the calendar year with a recurring hamstring strain."
The NBA announced 14 All-Star reserve picks two weeks before the 2026 All-Star Game at the Intuit Dome on Feb. 15. League coaches vote for All-Star reserves within their own conference and cannot vote for their own players. Josh Giddey, 23-year-old Chicago Bulls point guard, was omitted from the reserve selections. Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, voted a starter, will sit out to recover from a calf strain. NBA commissioner Adam Silver will name any injury replacements, typically favoring players who received the next-most votes. Giddey finished outside the top 20 in fan voting and has missed most of the calendar year with a recurring hamstring strain.
