Rays send down former top pitching prospect Taj Bradley after disastrous start: 'Tough decision'
Briefly

Taj Bradley was demoted to Triple-A Durham after a disappointing performance against the Chicago White Sox, where he squandered a 4-0 lead in just one inning. Rays manager Kevin Cash emphasized that the move is intended to help Bradley improve his pitching. Throughout the 2023 MLB season, Bradley's performance has fluctuated, with a rookie ERA of 5.59 improving to 4.11 in 2024, but he struggles with inconsistency, reflected in his current 4.61 ERA. Bradley acknowledges the need to develop a third pitch to regain his form.
"Tough decision, certainly, but felt like it's best for him to get down there right now. He's got to get to work," Rays manager Kevin Cash said.
"Bradley, once a top pitching prospect, made his MLB debut in the 2023 season when he pitched in 23 games and made 21 starts."
"Inconsistency has plagued the 24-year-old."
"Throwing off two pitches right now, I know I need that third, (the) changeup, to get back to where it was last year ... I'll just take it as it is and go down there, get back to work, just keep going."
