Reporting out of Japan over the weekend revealed that Okamoto was traveling to the U.S. for a final round of in-person meetings."

Imai has been linked to multiple teams including the Yankees, Mets, Cubs, Phillies and Orioles, with the White Sox considered a longshot. The 5'11" right-hander posted a 1.92 ERA with 178 strikeouts in 163 2/3 innings and a 27% strikeout rate since 2024, complementing a mid-90s fastball, promising slider and improved 7% walk rate.
