""Acaia's origins stem from both professional barista experience and ultra-precision laboratory scales," Acaia Digital Marketing Manager Susan Kealy told Daily Coffee News. "The coffee community is always seeking to push the boundaries of what can be achieved in the cup. We vied to create a product that could be the companion to the most scientifically minded coffee brewer, whether on or off the stage.""
Acaia launched the Pyxis Black, a compact coffee scale measuring 2.55 by 2.55 inches and 0.5 inches thick that reads accurately to the thousandth of a gram. The body combines aluminum and acrylic with a water-resistant coating and an OLED display for fine-resolution measurements. The scale offers a next-generation user interface with three customizable modes storing parameters for time, weight, flow rate, auto-start and auto-tare. Data can appear on the scale or in a companion app. The Pyxis Black includes Magic Relay to display data from a nearby screenless Umbra scale and a Brew History feature for local brew tracking. Sales launched on U.S. and European websites.
