Macap Goes Grind-by-Weight with New Supra G Series
"The grind-by-weight capabilities of the new models add to the existing portafilter-recognition feature and instant-tare feature built into the Supra line. The features aim for precision and accuracy while maintaining speed in high-volume cafe environments, according to the company. "It gives the pros of weight technology without slowing down service," Macap Marketing Manager Eleonora Bardoni told DCN, adding the claim that the line has the "fastest recognition of portafilter on the market.""
"The Supra68 G and Supra83 G are otherwise identical to the non-G models launched earlier this year. They feature 68-millimeter and 83-millimeter flat burrs spun at 1,250 RPM by 650-watt and 700-watt motors, respectively. Macap's launch adds to a huge year for grind-by-weight tech in the commercial and prosumer segments. GBW-enabled products have launched from Fiorenzato, Mazzer, Bentwood, La Marzocco and Mahlkönig."
Macap introduced the Supra G Series gravimetric grinders, comprising the Supra68 G and Supra83 G. The models add grind-by-weight capabilities to the Supra line's existing portafilter-recognition and instant-tare features. A Smart Dose Recognition system lets users program up to five doses and dispenses automatically into portafilters identified by their empty weight. The Supra68 G uses 68-millimeter flat burrs spun at 1,250 RPM by a 650-watt motor, while the Supra83 G uses 83-millimeter burrs driven by a 700-watt motor. Units are currently shipping to distribution partners worldwide, including the United States, with pricing not yet disclosed. Macap plans to extend G Technology to its domestic line in 2026 and to launch a model at World of Coffee in Brussels.
