Where the Chefs Eat: Xanthe Ross on her favourite restaurants in Athens
"If you're into supper clubs or social media, then you've no doubt come across Xanthe Ross - an articulate and gentle creator who is highly passionate about sustainable, seasonal eating. But before her ascent as a cookbook writer, social media darling and supper club host, she spent her summers helping her parents at their Welsh food festival, The Good Life Experience, where chefs like Thomasina Miers and Valentine Warner would do cooking demonstrations on stage."
""[That] was brilliant for embedding a real passion [for eco-friendly cooking] in me," Xanthe tells me. "[It reinforced for me that it's just as much about the ingredients as it is the cooking." Xanthe moved to London, she says, "to become a chef rather than an influencer." A stint in marketing for a drinks brand had taught her key social media skills."
Xanthe Ross champions sustainable, seasonal cooking and hosts supper clubs while building a cookbook and social media presence. She spent summers helping at her parents' Welsh food festival, The Good Life Experience, coordinating food stages and listening to chefs' demonstrations. A six-week sustainability course at Ballymaloe Cookery School deepened her commitment to eco-friendly cooking and ingredient-focused cuisine. A move to London aimed at becoming a chef followed a marketing stint that developed social-media skills. Intensive reading and documentary watching fueled an obsession with soil health, growing food, gardening, and the farm-to-table movement, influenced by Dan Barber.
