Spain's National Police Dismantle Violent Crypto-Robbery Ring Linked to Tren de Aragua
Spain’s National Police detained six individuals tied to Tren de Aragua for alleged involvement in violent thefts targeting high-profile victims with jewels, cash, and cryptocurrency. The investigation began in August 2025 after a house theft in Madrid in which 1.5 million in jewels and watches and 1.3 million in cryptocurrency were stolen. Victims were reportedly tied, gagged, and held at gunpoint to force disclosure and transfer of crypto and fiat holdings, with continued violence used as leverage. In one case, a gunshot was fired when a victim resisted, endangering the victim’s life. Suspects allegedly selected targets through surveillance and coerced them to meet in vacation apartments. Charges include membership in a criminal organization, violent robbery, unlawful detention, fraud, and crimes against public order.
