Eugene Gligor, 45, recently confessed to the murder of Leslie Preer, whose body was discovered in her home in Chevy Chase in 2001. The case went cold until DNA linked Gligor to the crime, leading to his arrest last year. Known for his calm demeanor, Gligor had managed to live a normal life in the DC area while the investigation continued. The motive remains unclear, and he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder despite initially being charged with first-degree murder. His sentencing is set for August 2, 2023.

"The fact that it turned out to be someone they allowed in their home with open arms, just makes it that much harder to understand," he added.
