Cowboys haven't gone international since 2014. Why Mexico could be in play in 2026
Briefly

The NFL announced its 2025 international schedule featuring seven games in five countries involving 13 teams. The Dallas Cowboys were considered for a game against the New York Jets but the Broncos will play instead. Cowboys executive Stephen Jones hinted strongly that they will play internationally in 2026, as they have not done so since 2014, marking a significant 12-year absence. NFL teams must relinquish a home game to participate in international games, and the Cowboys are expected to do so when they have nine home games in 2026.
Home teams [like the Jets in this case], we're a tier-A home game when we come in... Every team is required to give up a home game, so we haven't done ours yet. We'll do that.
That would be the year we give up a home game... 99-percent [chance]. We'll give up a home game when we have nine at home.
