Tyler Smith to stay at left tackle for the remainder of 2025 season " Inside The Star
"Well, at this point in the season, it is time for the Dallas Cowboys to mess with a few things to see what works and what doesn't, so they can get it figured out for next year. That said, Cowboys All-Pro offensive lineman, Tyler Smith started Sunday at left tackle, and it has now been announced that he will remain there for the remainder of the 2025 season."
"Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer said post game that Smith will remain the starter at left tackle for the rest of the season, even if Tyler Guyton returns. He said if Guyton returns, he will be the swing tackle, opening up the possibility of him seeing time at right tackle. Guyton is a raw talent that had far to many negatives than positives this season before he got hurt. This offensive line is full of first-round picks."
"According to Next Gen Stats, Smith was credited with five pressures allowed on 36 pass blocks, but did not give up a sack on Dak Prescott. 'It felt good,' Smith said on moving over one spot. 'If you remember back in 2022, I was holding down the ship the whole year,' he said. The Dallas Cowboys have two first round picks in April's draft, and the last thing I want them to do is use them on offense."
Tyler Smith will remain the starter at left tackle for the rest of the 2025 season. If Tyler Guyton returns, he will serve as the swing tackle with potential snaps at right tackle. Guyton is described as raw with more negatives than positives before his injury. Smith, a former left guard and two-time Pro Bowler, allowed five pressures on 36 pass blocks but gave up no sacks on Dak Prescott per Next Gen Stats. Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones framed the move as putting the best five players on the field and said Smith's long-term position will be evaluated. The defense remains a larger team concern heading into the offseason.
