Microsoft stitches transactional databases to Fabric
Briefly

During its Build conference, Microsoft announced the integration of Cosmos DB and SQL Server into its Fabric analytics and data lake environment. This addition aims to enhance the performance of AI and analytics workloads by allowing them to access transactional data more efficiently. By utilizing Apache Parquet files within the OneLake environment, the integration facilitates faster queries with minimal latency and ensures that machine learning models can operate with always-current data without the need for data copying or shuttling, thereby optimizing operational efficiency and computational performance.
Arun Ulag emphasized that Cosmos DB's integration with Fabric allows customers to leverage AI alongside their transactional data, optimizing performance.
Adding Cosmos DB to Microsoft's Fabric platform will facilitate faster queries by utilizing global secondary indexes, reducing latency while maintaining transactional performance.
