IMMATERIAL 0001 is a bench resulting from the partnership of Jacques Cartier Studio, ANAGRAM, and Vestre, launched at Paris Fashion Week. The design draws inspiration from traditional boat-building, connecting historical elements with futuristic aesthetics. Its form creates visual ambiguity, perceived as both light and monolithic depending on the viewer's angle. The bench features a structural base of cold galvanized steel, paired with a seat made of warm Swedish pine, blending industrial and organic materials. It provokes questions about functionality versus art, encouraging an interaction between users and its aesthetic.
IMMATERIAL 0001 draws inspiration from the incremental skeletons found in traditional boat-building, connecting the past to a vision of the future.
The interplay between cold galvanized steel and warm Swedish pine creates a dialogue between nature and industry, warmth and coolness, softness and strength.
Its form appears to shift as you move around it, capturing attention with its duality—both light and solid at the same time.
This work of art challenges our assumptions about the boundaries between functional objects and sculptural experiences.
