This NYC Home Has a Viral $300 Credenza, a King-Size Canopy Bed, and a Never-Used Kitchen
"Deciding to move back to New York on a whim, Hollis Loudon Puig, founder of Hollis Loudon Interiors, put a deposit on this 606-square-foot rental apartment while traveling for work in North Carolina. I didn't step foot in it until the day I got the keys, and somehow it was perfect. The whole thing felt like all the stars aligned, she writes."
""Everyone told me peel and stick doors were a waste of time. Spoiler, they were wrong," Hollis writes. "They are actually what transformed my space the most, tying together the pink grasscloth in the bedroom and the peacock blue in the living room and hall. Custom, chic, cohesive, and all thanks to the very thing people said not to bother with. Sometimes the rule-breaking move is the winning one.""
Hollis Loudon Puig moved back to New York on a whim and placed a deposit on a 606-square-foot Dumbo rental while traveling, not seeing the unit until key day. The location provides piers, waterfront views, and a 15-minute walk to Brooklyn Heights. The apartment arrived as a clean white canvas with modern finishes, washer and dryer, garbage disposal, gas range, and Bosch dishwasher, plus striking Brooklyn Bridge views. Moving in August 2024 with almost no furniture, bold, colorful maximalist layers were added. Peel-and-stick doors tied pink bedroom grasscloth to peacock blue in the living room and hall, creating a custom, cohesive result.
