Wuhan Qianzishan Waste-to-Energy Power Plant / United Units Architects
Briefly

The Qianzishan Waste-to-Energy Power Plant, designed by UUA under Yongzheng Li and Qizhi Li, transforms conventional waste-to-energy plants into spaces of aesthetic and social importance. This project seeks a harmony between machinery and architectural design, emphasizing transparency in industrial processes. By treating machinery as art and integrating visitor experiences into the layout, the design challenges traditional views of industrial architecture. The approach reflects a paradigm shift, considering the aesthetic value and social relevance of power plants, which can foster public understanding and trust.
"Perspective defines our interpretation-whether machinery is perceived as tools or art hinges on a shift in mindset. Here, we treat machines as artworks embodying human ingenuity, crafting dignified operational spaces for them."
"To integrate holistic design concepts, aesthetic effects, and visitor circulation, the architects orchestrated spatial layouts from the inside out, crafting industrial architecture with enhanced aesthetic value and social significance."
