Brian Yacopetti, 48, was convicted of first degree murder and assault in a shooting linked to a deteriorating relationship with 39-year-old Jennifer Dallmann, whom he had dated. The incident occurred on May 25, 2023, in Antioch. Dallmann's husband was also wounded in the attack. Defense attorney Anthony Ashe claimed Yacopetti's actions were influenced by drug use and emotional distress from Dallmann's harsh words during their breakup. Yacopetti faces a prison sentence of 25 years to life, and had been paroled less than a year prior to the shooting, fresh out of imprisonment for aggravated assault.
Yacopetti's attorney argued that the defendant's drug and alcohol use, coupled with emotional trauma from the breakup, might explain his state of mind during the killing.
Witnesses revealed that Yacopetti and Dallmann had a romantic relationship, which had ended abruptly, leading to a volatile situation that culminated in violence.
