Uptown Oakland hotel apparently closing, stops taking reservations

Located in the city's burgeoning Uptown neighborhood, the 172-room Moxy Hotel at 2225 Telegraph Ave. has stopped accepting reservations, is not taking phone calls and has closed its bar. Attempts to book a room on the hotel's website for a few days in February resulted in a message that the hotel was sold out."

"Opened in 2021, the boutique hotel is part of Marriott's portfolio of around 40 hotel brands. But in August, the property defaulted on a $35 million loan from Acore Capital Mortgage, as first reported by the San Francisco Standard. The hotel has been relatively well received among reviewers on Google, with an average rating of 3.9 stars from 420 reviews, but has only 3.3 stars on TripAdvisor from 59 reviews."
