Berkeley Unified School District was named among three districts cited in a congressional Republican investigation into alleged antisemitism. Republican lawmakers referenced walkouts, demonstrations, offensive imagery and harassment of Jewish students by educators and staff. District leaders said the claims are old, have been addressed and that the inquiry will be answered appropriately. Community members and Jewish students urged the district not to release personal information to the federal inquiry, warning that disclosures could cause privacy breaches and harm to students and staff. Students requested protection of free speech and continued safeguarding of the school community.
