As reading scores decline, a study primed to help grinds to a halt - Harvard Gazette
Briefly

A significant research project aimed at assisting children who struggle with reading and attention was halted when federal funding was cut by the Trump administration. The study, led by Harvard's Phil Capin and University of Denver's Garrett Roberts, sought to test the effectiveness of the SPARK intervention designed for Grades 3-5. Approximately 400 students from Texas were to participate, with tracking over four years. The termination of this grant affects potential improvements for students using integrated, research-informed practices in education.
"The grants that were funded and then consequently terminated went through a really meticulous process. ... Both projects had the potential to improve the lives of students."
"The biggest loss is for students who may have been helped with new research-informed practices," Capin added.
