First-year medical students celebrate their new white coats | Cornell Chronicle
Briefly

Jennifer Weiss's interest in medicine began at a young age when emergency medical responders aided her father during a health crisis. Motivated by this experience, she trained as an EMT and gained insights into patient care and health inequities while studying human biology at Cornell. Weiss founded the EMS Equity Project to provide resources and support for marginalized patients. Her dedication led her to Weill Cornell Medical College, where she recently participated in the White Coat Ceremony, symbolizing her commitment to medical education and diverse patient care.
"I wanted to have a greater impact on my patients than just the short ride to the hospital, where my knowledge and skills stopped and receiving the physician's skills took over."
Weiss created the EMS Equity Project, which offered monthly clinics in downtown Ithaca, focused on helping patients find resources and navigate the health care system.
