Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero has signed a new four-year contract. He is the captain following Son Heung-min's departure to LAFC. Romero led the team to a Europa League final victory in May and started the 2025-26 season strong, contributing to both a goal against PSG and a clean sheet in a Premier League win. Since his permanent signing from Atalanta in 2022, he has made 126 appearances, leading the club in clearances, tackles, and aerial duels. His prior contract was set to expire in 2027.
"We are delighted to announce that Cristian Romero has signed a new, long-term contract with the Club" on August 18, 2025.
Romero has already had an impressive beginning to the 2025-26 campaign, scoring against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup.
Since his debut for the club, no player has made more clearances (403), won more tackles (172) or won more aerial duels (303) than Romero for Spurs.
