Residents should place trees next to their regular trash, compost, and recycling bins on scheduled collection days. All lights, ornaments, tinsel, and non-natural decorations must be removed before pickup. Trees six feet tall or taller should be cut in half before placement. Residents are asked not to put trees or branches inside compost bins because pine needles harm compost material. Natural wreaths are accepted if wires and non-natural decorations are removed. The program prevents illegal dumping and diverts trees from landfill disposal.
