"This week's king tides, which run through next Monday, are predicted to be the most significant tides remaining in 2025. King tides, which can cause sunny-day coastal flooding, will occur each day this week in the morning and evening hours as the full moon aligns with the sun. The moon will be fullest on Wednesday, but the tides will be at their highest Thursday and Friday morning, around the morning rush hour."
"There also are king tides forecast for Nov. 18 to Nov. 20 on the new moon, and on Dec. 2 to Dec. 7 on the full moon. This week's king tides will be more powerful, however. That's because they're occurring at a time when the moon's orbit, which is elliptical, swings a bit closer to the Earth's surface, thus exerting more pull on ocean water and thus larger tidal swings."
King tides run through next Monday and will be the most significant tides remaining in 2025. They can cause sunny-day coastal flooding and will occur each morning and evening as the full moon aligns with the sun. The moon peaks Wednesday, but highest tides are expected Thursday and Friday morning, with Port Everglades gauge showing roughly one foot higher than in months without king tides. Additional king tides are forecast Nov. 18–20 and Dec. 2–7, but this week's are stronger because the moon is nearer Earth, increasing tidal pull. A cold front will bring winds up to 28 mph, mostly north and northeast, with less impact than easterly winds.
