As electric vehicles (EVs) reduce exhaust emissions, the focus shifts to other pollution sources like tires and brakes. With the upcoming Euro 7 regulations in Europe, new limits on particulate emissions will apply to all vehicles, including EVs. Brembo has responded by creating Greentell, a new brake and pad set designed to reduce brake dust emissions by 90% while improving durability. This breakthrough, evolving over a decade, aims for mass-market adoption and balances environmental concerns with driving performance, showcasing the industry's commitment to sustainable innovation in automotive technologies.
We started 10 years ago to investigate a different solution. The main topic that we had in mind was to develop a disk that is greener than the current production of cast iron.
For the first time, we apply this technology in a huge volume, not like just a niche, but in a high-volume product.
Greentell is the best compromise from a green point of view and [for] performance because the direct pleasure of the end user is a must for us.
It was a really, really difficult challenge for us. We invested a lot of time; we invested a lot of money.
