Sweden and India forge strategic partnership to double economic exchange
Sweden and India are aiming to double bilateral trade and investment over the next five years. The partnership is framed around cooperation in green transition, defence, emerging technologies, and people-to-people connections. Both countries also plan to strengthen ties in security, technology, artificial intelligence, and space technology. Their space agencies signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on an instrument for the Venus Orbiter mission. The European Union expects an EU-India agreement to be signed by the end of the year at a major business event. Investment cooperation is presented as the missing element to complement trade, support de-risking, and diversify supply chains amid economic security challenges.
"“Deepening our investment ties will help us to de-risk and to diversify,” said von der Leyen. The two countries' space agencies signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on an instrument that will be part of the Venus Orbiter mission, said Kristersson."
