UFC Makes Serbian Debut, Visits Belgrade on August 1
"The UFC is finally taking advantage of having multiple Serbian fighters on its roster, including welterweight Uros Medic, who called for a main event spot in Belgrade earlier this year following a win over Geoff Neal."
"After that win, however, U.S. President Donald Trump, a noted UFC fan, intervened. Medic revealed that 'little do you know, I get back, with Dana White, I'm back in his office, and Dana's got President Trump on speaker phone.'"
The UFC is set to return to mainland Europe with its first event in Serbia on August 1, 2026. This Fight Night card will be the promotion's debut in the central European nation. The UFC's European presence has diminished since 2022, with only a few events in England, France, and Azerbaijan. Despite this, interest in MMA remains high, as evidenced by KSW and Oktagon MMA hosting numerous events. Serbian fighter Uros Medic has been vocal about wanting a main event spot in Belgrade, aided by U.S. President Donald Trump's intervention regarding travel issues.
