Barcelona startup Heura Foods has obtained a â¬20 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to advance its production of plant-based, sustainable food products. This funding, backed by the EU's InvestEU program, aims to transform the European food system by prioritizing the European Green Deal and supporting innovation in biotechnology. The financing will enable Heura to enhance its R&D initiatives, develop new sustainable food alternatives, and increase production capacity, ultimately contributing to healthier food systems and addressing consumer demands for plant-based options.
The EIB's support for innovation and biotechnology is key to Europe's technological leadership. With this agreement, we are boosting the dynamism of the startup ecosystem in Spain.
This financing agreement with Heura is a clear example of how the EIB is stepping up its support for companies that are at the forefront of the bioeconomy sector.
