"This funding marks a pivotal moment for Altilium and for the UK's battery ecosystem. By scaling our recycling technology and building the UK's first commercial facility of its kind, we are closing the loop on battery materials and enhancing the growth, productivity and competitiveness of the sector."
"The £18.5 million comes through the DRIVE35 Scale-Up Fund, part of the UK government's £2.5 billion commitment to accelerate domestic electric vehicle supply chain and battery manufacturing capacity."
Altilium has received £18.5 million from the DRIVE35 Scale-Up Fund to establish ACT3, the first commercial refinery in the UK for recovering critical minerals from end-of-life electric vehicle batteries. The facility in Plymouth will process 24,000 EV batteries annually using the EcoCathode™ process, achieving up to 74% lower carbon emissions than traditional mining. Additionally, a separate grant funds a project with JLR and Warwick Manufacturing Group to produce EV battery cells with recycled materials. This funding is crucial for advancing the UK’s electric vehicle supply chain.
