Enrique Cerezo stated that Julián Álvarez is an Atleti player and will remain at Atlético Madrid. Barcelona reportedly considers Álvarez a leading option to replace ageing striker Robert Lewandowski if Lewandowski leaves at the end of his contract next summer. Cerezo said he has no intention of selling Álvarez despite transfer speculation. Álvarez expressed uncertainty about his long-term destination during the international break, saying he does not know if he will play for Barcelona or PSG and noting social-media discussion in Spain. Álvarez said he is focused on Atlético for now and that the situation will be reviewed at season’s end. Any departure would likely command a huge transfer fee.
