Dani Olmo talks Dro Fernandez exit, Fermin Lopez renewal and Barcelona midfield without Frenkie de Jong and Pedri
"Everyone has their reasons. I had mine, and Dro has his now. It's a shame because he was a player the club was keen on, but it's his decision. I'm glad he's renewing, it's good news for everyone. We understand each other on the pitch and we're good friends off it. We're 100% compatible on the pitch."
"The goal [tomorrow] is to win, then score as many goals as possible. We don't care about the rest of the matches. Frenkie and Pedri are sensitive losses, but I can play further back, I've done it other times. Casadó, Bernal or Eric can play as a 6. The position I feel most comfortable in is number 10. It's my position, where I move best. But I have no problem taking on another role at the base of midfield, with more freedom. I've done it a few times this year and in others. I wouldn't have any problem with it."
Dani Olmo prioritises a win over Copenhagen to secure a Top 8 finish and automatic progression to the knockout rounds. He recognises Dro Fernández chose to leave for PSG and labels the departure regrettable given the club's interest. He welcomes Fermín López's new contract, noting on-pitch understanding and off-pitch friendship. He acknowledges the absences of Frenkie de Jong and Pedri as significant but offers to play deeper, citing previous experience. He names Casadó, Bernal or Eric as options at number 6 and states his preferred role is number 10 while remaining willing to adapt.
