"It feels incredible to be a small part of the history that Alysa has made now. I think for most people, this Olympic gold dress will forever be etched in people's minds."
"You know, like flirty fun, but at the same time, classically beautiful with a hint of disco and then just kind of dripping in gold. We just went straight for it. Like, let's do gold all the way."
"I never imagined that I would be able to look on TV and see something that I helped with. It's just amazing."
Lisa McKinnon Designs created an iconic gold dress for Olympic figure skater Alysa Liu, requiring over 100 hours of design, sewing, and hand-placed beading. Liu wore the dazzling gold gown while performing to Donna Summer's "MacArthur Park" and secured a gold medal in the 2026 Winter Olympics women's individual singles event, marking the first American woman to achieve this feat in 24 years. McKinnon, a former professional figure skater who discovered her passion for design, founded her company in 2014 after creating skating costumes. Her team, including seamstresses Sydney Pigott and Kayla Anderson, collaborated to bring the vision to life. The design combined flirty fun, classical beauty, disco elements, and abundant gold detailing.
