This Historic Connecticut Inn Just Got a Glamorous Holiday Makeover by Aerin Lauder
""When I check into a hotel, it's really about the room," says Aerin Lauder, the cosmetics heiress and founder of AERIN, a curated lifestyle brand that spans the world of beauty, fashion, and home décor. This holiday season, Ms. Lauder is bringing her sense of refinement to every corner of the Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Collection, the iconic resort in Washington, Connecticut."
"With hotels, it's very similar to having a brand; it's really about the experience. It's how they greet you, how they make you feel welcome. You feel as if you are home. Do you have a favorite? Claridge's. The experience when you check in is inviting. It's luxurious. They remember you. The rooms are beautiful. Do you have any travel plans next year-any exotic destinations? I'm going back to Maastricht, which I love."
Aerin Lauder curated holiday decor for the Mayflower Inn & Spa that includes garlands, flower arrangements, dark brown straw vases, suede pouches, and candles in green, chocolate and black. An 18-foot Christmas tree features vintage glass ornaments and felt-and-wood embellishments, and a smaller tree is provided for children. The dining-room centerpiece combines red peonies, red roses, berries and evergreen. Lauder emphasizes the hotel-room experience, hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere akin to a branded experience. Claridge's is named as a favorite for its inviting check-in, luxurious rooms and personalized service. Lauder plans travel to Maastricht and Vienna and hopes to visit India while launching AERIN beauty there.
