""So, some of you may or may not know that I was in the hospital very ill this fall with Urosepsis. It was not easy. It's been a very, very challenging four months. And I want everybody to know that I am on the road to a full recovery. I'm not there yet, but I'm on the road to that.""
""Visibly emotional, the Pose star added: "And I wanted to thank everybody for your prayers and your love and sending me all the vibes. I felt every single one of them. And I know that I'm alive today because of my fans." In the same post Porter also included a promo picture for his new film Christmas Karma, which is a retooling of the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol.""
Billy Porter was diagnosed in September with a serious case of urosepsis that required hospitalization and led to his early departure from Broadway's Cabaret. Porter described the past four months as very challenging and said he is on the road to a full recovery, though not fully recovered yet. He thanked fans for their prayers, love and support and credited that response with helping his survival. Porter shared holiday greetings and included promotional material for his new film Christmas Karma, a reworking of A Christmas Carol in which he plays the Ghost of Christmas Present. Urosepsis results from bacteria from a UTI entering the bloodstream and can be life threatening.
