"You know, he was playful and curious and kind, and I think what he taught us to do is really find the thing that we're most passionate about and the things we think might be able to change the world,"
"The best thing I think he did for my family was raise usbetween New York City and the mountains of Sundance, because we got to live between the city and in natural law, and taught us a very strong value of stewardship,"
"If you tell him not to do it, that just means it hasn't been done yet,"
Robert Redford died on Sept. 16, 2025, at his home in Sundance, Utah, at age 89. He was an Oscar-winning actor and director who established the Sundance Film Festival in the 1980s. Amy Redford, 55, reflected on celebrating the first Sundance without him and described him as playful, curious and kind. She said he taught his children to find passions that could change the world and that living between New York City and the Sundance mountains instilled a strong value of stewardship. She noted his belief in using influence to open doors for independent filmmakers. The festival kicks off Jan. 22.
