Jennifer Lopez stars in first trailer for queer musical Kiss of the Spider Woman
Briefly

Kiss of the Spider Woman is a new queer movie musical directed by Bill Condon, adapted from the 1992 stage musical and the 1976 novel by Manuel Puig. The story follows Valentín, a political prisoner, and Molina, a window dresser, who form an unlikely bond as Molina recounts a Hollywood musical featuring his beloved diva Ingrid Luna, played by Jennifer Lopez. Diego Luna stars as Valentín and Tonatiuh plays Molina; Lopez and Luna serve as executive producers. The film premiered at Sundance and is scheduled for theatrical release on October 10, with early reviews at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film's official logline reads: "Valentín (Diego Luna), a political prisoner, shares a cell with Molina (Tonatiuh), a window dresser convicted of public indecency. The two form an unlikely bond as Molina recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical starring his favourite silver screen diva, Ingrid Luna (Lopez)." Marking the second film adaptation of the novel following the 1985 thriller/romance directed by Héctor Babenco, the trailer taps into the vibrant scenes of Molina's mind, which allow him to escape his fate for a while.
"There go the lights," he says before a scene flashes of Ingrid dancing. "It's in glorious technicolour." "Wait, you've thrown us right in. We know nothing about the story or the character," Valentín argues. To this, Molina responds, "Don't you like to dream? At least, a little?" As later scenes flash of the ever-glamorous performer Ingrid, Molina adds: "No matter how hard Hollywood tried to make her seem all-American, she never stopped being Latin."
