Marsh Monday: Live Music + PBS Film 'Underdogs' (SF)
Briefly

Ashia, inspired by her experiences as a frustrated storyteller, decided to metaphorically build a treehouse in her backyard. She discovered a compelling story about prisoners and dogs in a neighboring town, which prompted her to enroll in a CCSF class. This documentary project unexpectedly led to the drafting of legislation in Oregon and provided her an opportunity to write the soundtrack. The journey underscored the importance of clear, kind, and consistent communication, utilizing positive reinforcement as a key theme in her storytelling.
As a frustrated storyteller whose scripts kept getting second-round with Sundance Labs, I realized I was a bit like an architect walking around with blueprints, and decided to metaphorically build a treehouse in my backyard.
When I ran across a story about prisoners and dogs in my neighboring town, I figured this was my documentary and began taking a CCSF class.
Little did I realize that this story would inspire the drafting of legislation in Oregon, allow me to write the soundtrack, and shine a light on the power of clear, kind and consistent communication.
