Masaaki Yuasa officially comes out of retirement, announces new anime Daisy's Life
Briefly

Director Masaaki Yuasa has launched a new animation studio, ame pippin, and announced his upcoming project titled 'Daisy's Life.' This Japanese-French co-production is based on Banana Yoshimoto's novel 'Hinagiku no Jinsei,' which tells the story of a girl named Daisy coping with her mother's death. Together with a mysterious girl named Dahlia, Daisy embarks on an imaginative journey through space and time. Yuasa aims to portray Daisy's life within a cosmic context, and he will collaborate with screenwriter Sachiko Tanaka and character designer Yoshitomo Nara for this project. No release date has been shared yet.
Last February, director Masaaki Yuasa announced the launch of ame pippin, a new Tokyo-based animation studio in collaboration with Asmik Ace, Aniplex, and CoMix Wave Films.
Yuasa announced that he would direct Daisy's Life, a Japanese-French co-production with Miyu Productions, based on Banana Yoshimoto's novel Hinagiku no Jinsei.
Yuasa said, 'Even among the works of Ms. Banana Yoshimoto, this is a novel that evokes visual images throughout... the final passage is very happy, like something I had dreamed of in the past.'
Yuasa will be joined by screenwriter Sachiko Tanaka in adapting Yoshimoto's novel to animation, with character design by painter Yoshitomo Nara.
