
Paddington 2 previously held the top spot on Rotten Tomatoes with a 100% score, briefly surpassing Citizen Kane after a negative review lowered Kane’s score. The Paddington franchise has expanded across three films and a West End musical, taking the bear through prison, underwater settings, and journeys back to his homeland. A fourth film is now planned with longtime collaborators Simon Blackwell and Armando Iannucci co-writing the script. Dougal Wilson, who directed Paddington in Peru, is in talks to return as director. The new movie will be the first without Paul King’s involvement, and it brings a writer known for sharp, expletive-filled political satire into a family-oriented franchise.
