Ryan Coogler's epic film set in 1930s Mississippi received the night's biggest prize for best ensemble in a motion picture. Michael B Jordan, who plays twins, won best male actor in a leading role and thanked his co-stars for their contributions. Delroy Lindo accepted the ensemble award, crediting Coogler's direction and expressing gratitude for the collaborative experience. Irish actress Cynthia Erivo won best female actor in a leading role for her performance in Hamnet, paying tribute to her co-star Emily Watson and expressing how the role transformed her as an artist.
